The Women's Center is in need of volunteers to provide "ready to go" breakfast 5 days a week at our day shelter. Please select a day that works best for you. (If under 16 yrs. parental supervision required when staying to serve a meal)
IMPORTANT BREAKFAST INFORMATION
We are in need of a full breakfast provided and served by volunteers Monday through Friday at our day shelter.
Breakfast suggestions: quiche, breakfast casseroles, breakfast burritos, pancakes, grits, home fries, meats, boiled eggs, instant packets of oatmeal and grits, cold cereal, yogurt, fresh fruit, bagels and cream cheese, biscuits, etc. Volunteers are asked to provide beverages. (bottled water, juice, hot chocolate, milk/chocolate milk). When possible, providing paper plates, cups, bowls, and plastic cutlery helps tremendously!
**We encourage volunteers to stay and serve when able! This is not mandatory,.
Weekday Breakfast is served at 8:30 AM - 9:30 AM. Please arrive 30 minutes early. (Staff are onsite as early as 7:45 AM)
The Women's Center is currently serving approximately 80 women for breakfast each weekday. Our numbers are slightly higher at lunch, serving up to 100 women. The Women's Center does not have a full kitchen so we rely on volunteers to bring in ready-to-eat meals for both breakfast and lunch. We have limited refrigeration and no way to heat up large meals. We do have microwaves. We do allow volunteers to bring in crockpots.
If you are providing single-serve meals (individually packaged items) you do not need to serve and can either drop off or deliver meals prior to the serving time selected. If you are providing a family-style meal, we request that you be available to help serve the meal 8:30 AM - 9:30 AM and stay to clean up.
Please note: Our women depend on The Women's Center and our community for meals. It is important that any commitments to provide a meal is honored. If you're uncertain about your availability, please refrain from signing up until you are certain. We appreciate a 48-hour notice if you need to cancel. This will assist staff in finding coverage. For those that are able to call in groceries or have a meal catered when an emergency arises this is very helpful, but not mandatory. Thank you.
Your support and generosity is greatly appreciated!
